Myanmar is looking forward to deeper and all-round cooperation with China, the country's President Min Aung Hlaing said in an interview with China Media Group (CMG) during his state visit to China.
Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Beijing on Monday for a five-day state visit. It was the Myanmar leader's first state visit to China since taking office as president, and came as the two countries mark 76 years of diplomatic ties.
During his trip, Min Aung Hlaing visited the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) in Beijing on Wednesday to learn about China's rail technologies and explore bilateral cooperation. He later traveled via a high-speed bullet train to Shanghai, and visited high-tech companies in Hangzhou, a city in east China's Zhejiang Province.
His trip signaled potential cooperation between Myanmar and China, ranging from traditional infrastructure to high-tech sectors like artificial intelligence and aerospace.
"Myanmar-China cooperation covers a wide range of areas, including industry, technology, culture, health, sports and many others. All sectors in China have achieved sound development, so we look forward to deeper all-round, multi-field practical cooperation with China," Min Aung Hlaing said.
The Myanmar leader attended an investment and trade promotion exchange meeting in Shanghai. Speaking ahead of the meeting, he said he expects the event to help both countries find cooperation priorities.
"During my visit to Shanghai, we will also hold a Myanmar-China investment and trade promotion exchange meeting to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The exchange meeting will introduce Myanmar's distinctive products to Chinese entrepreneurs and will also showcase Chinese products. I will attend the exchange meeting. Through this event, the two sides will be able to identify cooperation priorities more precisely and carry out cooperation across the board," said Min Aung Hlaing.
Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar and China are currently in talks over aerospace cooperation, adding that the two countries have many opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, aerospace and information technology.
"I would also like to add that China's development in artificial intelligence is at the forefront of the world, and its aerospace technology is also among the world's best. Myanmar and China are discussing aerospace cooperation. This shows that Myanmar and China have many opportunities for cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, aerospace and information technology," said Min Aung Hlaing.
