China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday called for efforts from Japan's business community in urging the Japanese government to correct its wrongdoings and create conditions for bringing bilateral economic and trade cooperation back to the track of healthy development.
Ministry Spokesman He Yadong made the statement at a regular press briefing in Beijing in response to the recent visits by Japanese business figures to the country.
"China has been expanding high-level opening-up, fostering a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment, while carrying out mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation with all countries to share development opportunities," said the spokesman.
"Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks concerning China's Taiwan region have severely undermined the political foundation of China-Japan relations and dealt a heavy blow to bilateral economic and trade cooperation. We hope that the Japanese business community will, for its own interest, urge the Japanese government to reflect on and correct its mistakes, and create conditions for bilateral economic and trade cooperation to return to a track of healthy development," he said.
