Chinese yuan strengthens to 6.8109 against USD Tuesday

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 66 pips to 6.8109 against the U.S. dollar Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 306.63 points, or 0.59 percent, to 52,182.74. The S&P 500 added 86.41 points, or 1.18 percent, to 7,440.43. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 522.53 points, or 2.07 percent, to 25,820.14.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 3.11 percent and 2.68 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, materials and real estate led the laggards by going down 1.86 percent and 0.73 percent, respectively.
