International gold and silver prices both dropped on Monday.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for August delivery fell 1.40 percent to settle at 4,038.90 U.S. dollars per ounce, while silver futures for July delivery dropped 1.00 percent to close at 58.632 dollars per ounce.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 306.63 points, or 0.59 percent, to 52,182.74. The S&P 500 added 86.41 points, or 1.18 percent, to 7,440.43. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 522.53 points, or 2.07 percent, to 25,820.14.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 3.11 percent and 2.68 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, materials and real estate led the laggards by going down 1.86 percent and 0.73 percent, respectively.
