A task force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy arrived at the Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, starting a four-day goodwill visit to Vietnam.

The task force, comprising the PLA Navy's ships Qijiguang and Kunlunshan, docked at a port in the Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday morning.

More than 180 people, including staff members from the Chinese Consulate General in the Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of the local Chinese community, Vietnamese Navy officers and soldiers, and representatives of the municipal People's Committee welcomed the fleet at the dock.

During the visit, the officers and soldiers of the task force will hold exchanges and carry out friendly ball games and other activities with their Vietnamese counterparts and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Substantial progress was made during the China-UK technical consultations on a joint feasibility study for a services trade agreement, held in London from June 30 to July 1.

The two sides agreed to speed up the remaining work and complete the study at an early date.

In January this year, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to formally launch the joint feasibility study on a China-UK services trade agreement.

Before the meeting, the two sides had held two rounds of online technical consultations to exchange views on issues related to the study.
