Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Monday called for stronger trade and investment cooperation with China at a business roundtable in Guangzhou City, south China's Guangdong Province, as she underscored the vast potential for bilateral partnership during her state visit to the country.
Guangzhou is the first stop on her seven-day state visit, where she has taken part in a series of engagements aimed at boosting trade and investment ties.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah shared her vision for the future of the partnership at the roundtable.
"The purpose of my visit is to strengthen the long-standing relationship between our two countries and peoples, both at the political and economic levels, as the latter is the main purpose of this forum today. My stay in Guangdong Province thus far has shown me the ability of China to set itself an ambitious development and prosperity objective, and then actually reaching that through hard work, innovation, and a keen eye for opportunity. As such, there are many areas where the two countries can cooperate in the true sense of partnership," she said.
In Guangzhou, the Namibian delegation toured GAC Aion, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, as part of broader efforts to deepen cooperation between the two nations.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah arrived in China on Sunday. This visit comes as the two countries celebrate the 36th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between them.
The 74-year-old has served as Namibian president since 2025. This is her first visit to China since taking office.
