China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to deepen exchanges between legislative bodies at a meeting between Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, and Pak Thae Song, premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, in Beijing on Friday.
Zhao, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries is the greatest strength and fundamental guarantee for China-DPRK relations.
Since last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un have paid successful visits to each other and reached a series of important consensuses, charting a new blueprint for the development of bilateral ties.
China stands ready to work with comrades in the DPRK to implement the important consensus of the two top leaders, carry forward traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen exchanges between legislative bodies and the sharing of experience in party and state governance, so as to push China-DPRK relations to further progress, Zhao said.
Pak, also a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, said the DPRK side stands ready to work with China, following the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries and taking the upcoming 65th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance as an opportunity, to enhance coordination and cooperation, deepen legislative exchanges, and promote new development in DPRK-China relations.
