Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in Beijing on Friday.
Zhao, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China and Namibia are good friends, good brothers and good partners.
He noted that China stands ready to work with Namibia to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state and carry forward the traditional friendship.
He also expressed China's willingness to deepen practical cooperation.
The NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and interactions with Namibia's Parliament, deepen collaboration within multilateral platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and contribute to common development. Namibia is welcome to send participants to the seminar for African parliamentarians hosted by the NPC, Zhao said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said that Namibia and China enjoy a long-standing and profound friendship that has grown even stronger over time. Namibia adheres to the one-China principle and is ready to engage in robust cooperation with China in various fields including economy and trade, infrastructure, agriculture and mining.
Namibia also looks forward to strengthening legislative exchanges and continuously enhancing the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, she said.
On Friday afternoon, Nandi-Ndaitwah laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square.
Nandi-Ndaitwah is on a state visit to China from July 5 to 11 at the invitation of Xi.
