Chinese peacekeepers in Abyei, a disputed border region between Sudan and South Sudan under United Nations protection, on Monday successfully completed an emergency time-critical airlift mission assigned by the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) after heavy rains cut off all overland transport.
The Chinese peacekeeping helicopter unit delivered 6.4 tons of drinking water, food and daily supplies by air to four remote forward outposts in urgent need of critical supplies after flooding during the rainy season left dirt roads collapsed and severely damaged.
