Local officials, residents and rescue workers in Ningming County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, have been working together to clear mud and rebuild their homes after floods and mudslides triggered by heavy rainfall about a week ago.
Nanan Township, one of the hardest-hit areas, has seen floodwaters recede as authorities moved in to clear mud and debris.
Highway maintenance departments have deployed multiple excavators for road-clearing operations since Thursday.
Rescue teams and volunteers have been delivering supplies to the township. Local officials first surveyed and compiled a list of needed supplies from each village, then rescue workers distributed them to residents.
Meanwhile, streets and shops there are gradually coming back to life. Many stores have cleared mud from their doorsteps and reopened for business.
"We are working to get the market back up and running as soon as possible to meet the daily needs of the residents," said Chen Chang, Party secretary of the township.
