President Xi's works give readers deeper insights into China: Uzbek official

The best way to learn about China and its domestic and foreign policy is through the study of President Xi Jinping and his books, which help readers gain deeper insights into China's evolving development landscape, a senior Uzbek lawmaker has said.

Sodiq Safoyev, first deputy chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, said a book house dedicated to the works of President Xi was inaugurated at a prestigious Uzbek higher education institution in Tashkent early this year, enabling readers in Uzbekistan to deepen their understanding about China.

"President Xi Jinping's books demonstrate new vision, new way of thinking for world leaders. He clearly showed us that today we cannot talk only about one country, one nation's interest. We're living in a globalizing, interconnected world," he said in an interview with China Media Group in Beijing.

Safoyev stressed that in an era of globalization, the boundaries between domestic and international affairs have become increasingly blurred. Today's challenges call for collective action.

"At the same time, every country today should realize that there is no domestic problem anymore. Every problem has a transnational character and exactly vision of President Xi Jinping demonstrate that today we must be united for resolving the problems which we have - ecological, economic development, poverty and difference between the different nations, welfare level, etcetera," he said.

Safoyev highlighted the significance of Xi's vision that equality is the essential foundation for sustainable, trust-based cooperation.

"And was mostly important, which important for me, President Xi Jinping's idea that cooperation must be founded on shared values. It's only way to obtain long-term stable partnership. And I think that his idea that today all the countries should cooperate, taking to account the principle of equality regardless of wealth, size and might of every country. All are equal and have an equal voice in resolving world affairs," he said.

The assessments paint a picture far removed from early expectations, when President Donald Trump confidently foresaw a quick and decisive victory following the launch of U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran on Feb 28.

After months of intermittent fighting, Tehran has developed a better understanding of both its military strengths and the limits of U.S. power, officials briefed on the intelligence said.

The assessments show that Iran has now become more convinced of the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran appears determined to prolong the war at least until the November midterm elections in the U.S. to increase political and economic pressure on Washington, said the report.
