Oil prices inched up on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for October delivery added 1.22 dollars, or 1.33 percent, to settle at 91.48 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for November delivery increased by 72 cents, or 0.75 percent, to settle at 97.00 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 9 pips to 6.7804 against the U.S. dollar Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
