The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 9 pips to 6.7804 against the U.S. dollar Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.
In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a 200-million-euro investment package for Greenland during a visit to Nuuk on Monday, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Greenland.
The Global Gateway Partnership Package will support investments in Greenland in 2026 and 2027, the European Commission said in a press release.
During the visit, von der Leyen, Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signed a joint declaration to reinforce their partnership.
The declaration and investment package will expand cooperation in education and fisheries, while supporting satellite and cable connectivity, hydropower and critical raw materials, according to the statement.
The package also includes support for better housing, sustainable tourism and small businesses.
Von der Leyen said the package would create new opportunities and strengthen the EU's presence and engagement in Greenland and the Arctic.
Greenland is a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated remarks about U.S. control over the island have caused concern among European allies and renewed debate over Arctic security, sovereignty and NATO cohesion.
