Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that Moscow is ready to hold a new round of negotiations on Ukraine and is willing to seek compromises within its established positions and framework.
Lavrov said Russia wants to end the conflict and has never refused talks for a settlement on Ukraine. He said the responsibility for the suspension of negotiations does not lie with Moscow, and Russia is willing to join bilateral or trilateral talks if the parties concerned show a willingness to negotiate.
At the same time, Lavrov stressed that Russia's position on Ukraine has not changed and that the objectives of its special military operation remain unchanged. He said Russia will not suspend its military operation during negotiations.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Tuesday that Ukraine is willing to reach an energy ceasefire agreement with Russia.
Sybiha said Kiev's position has been communicated to its international partners. He said some friendly international parties have put forward relevant proposals, and multiple sides will work together to advance the implementation of an energy truce.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that Kiev is open to a ceasefire in the energy sector, and plans to discuss the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York between September 21 and 23.
Trump on Monday urged Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian diesel fuel facilities, saying the strikes were causing diesel fuel shortages in Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that "any call on Kiev to stop attacks on civilian economic infrastructure can only be welcomed".
