International gold and silver prices closed lower on Monday.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for December delivery dropped 0.93 percent to settle at 4,383.90 U.S. dollars per ounce, while silver futures for December delivery lost 1.09 percent to close at 66.415 dollars per ounce.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 366.19 points, or 0.71 percent, to 52,048.83. The S and P 500 added 114.20 points, or 1.49 percent, to 7,764.70. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 599.55 points, or 2.26 percent, to 27,122.09.
Seven of the 11 primary S and P 500 sectors ended in the green, with communication services and technology leading the gainers by going up 3.86 percent and 2.46 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and utilities led the laggards by losing 2.57 percent and 0.43 percent, respectively.
