A speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the reception marking the 77th anniversary of the People's Republic of China has resonated strongly nationwide, with many describing it as inspiring and reaffirming their confidence in China's development path.

In his speech, Xi emphasized that as long as people remain confident, stay focused on goals, and forge ahead steadily step by step, success will surely belong to the great Communist Party of China, the great Chinese people, and the great People's Republic of China.

Xi pointed out that over the past 77 years, the Party has united and led the people in unremitting struggle, creating the miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability. The country have achieved the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and are forging ahead toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects, he said.

People in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR, and Taiwan have described President Xi's important speech as deeply inspiring.

"President Xi's important speech is visionary and inspiring. Sectors across Hong Kong will undoubtedly seize opportunities to break new ground, fully leverage its bridging role of connecting the mainland with the rest of the world, capitalizing on the institutional strengths of 'one country, two systems,' comprehensively implement the Five-Year Plan, and actively integrate into and serve the overall national development strategy," said Lillian Cheong Man-lei, under secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR government.

"President Xi has clearly pointed out the need to unswervingly implement the principles of 'one country, two systems,' 'the people of Macao administer Macao,' with a high degree of autonomy; this has charted the course for Macao's development. I will firmly implement the principle of 'patriots administering Macao' and join forces with all sectors of society to translate the central government's care and expectations into concrete action," said Loi I Weng, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR and vice president of the Macao Women's General Association.

"General Secretary Xi has emphasized the need to deepen cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, resolutely combat separatist forces in Taiwan, oppose interference by external forces, and fully safeguard the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations. As an educator, I am committed to fostering youth exchanges, encouraging young people from both sides of the Strait to leverage their respective strengths and contribute to national rejuvenation," said Yu Tzu-hsiang, a professor at Shih Hsin University in Taiwan.

The incident in which a Japan Self-Defense Forces officer trespassed into the Chinese Embassy in Japan with a knife constituted a serious violation of China's sovereignty and dignity, said an embassy spokesperson.

On March 24, Kodai Murata, then an active-duty second lieutenant in Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF), allegedly scaled a barbed-wire wall and broke into the Chinese embassy in Tokyo carrying a knife. He threatened to kill Chinese diplomatic personnel and was later arrested by the police.

The Tokyo District Court on Thursday held the first hearing in open court of Murata's trial.

The embassy spokesperson said that this egregious incident constituted a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, a grave infringement on China's sovereignty and dignity, and a severe threat to the personal safety of Chinese diplomatic personnel and the security of diplomatic premises.

It also exposed numerous deep-seated issues, such as the rampant nature of right-wing forces in Japan and the lack of proper supervision and discipline regarding Self-Defense Forces personnel, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that facts are clear concerning the case, and the evidence is irrefutable, leaving no room for denial.

China and the international community are watching closely to see how Japan handles the matter. China urges Japan to show the proper attitude, severely punish the intruder, conduct a thorough investigation and implement corrective measures, and provide a responsible account of the incident, said the spokesperson.
