Cities across China have rolled out a variety of cultural, tourism, sports and leisure activities to boost consumer spending and create more engaging experiences during the seven-day National Day holiday, which began on Thursday.
In Jinan, east China's Shandong Province, residents and tourists are enjoying an indoor ice rink at a local shopping center. During the holiday, the city has issued sports-related consumer vouchers to boost holiday spending and unlock the potential of the sports consumption market.
Meanwhile, moviegoers in Liuzhou, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, are getting more than just a good film. A new citywide promotion turns a single ticket stub into a pass for discounts at over 80 local businesses, including bookstores, tourist spots, hotels, snack shops, and cultural and creative stores. The campaign works both ways, as shoppers at these participating businesses can earn movie vouchers in return.
In Huangshan City, east China's Anhui Province, visitors can earn tourism-themed vouchers by showing their transport tickets, visiting night-tour attractions or joining fun local competitions. They can then redeem these vouchers at designated merchants in scenic areas.
According to official data, from late September to the end of October, more than 20,000 cultural and tourism events will be held nationwide, while more than 310 million yuan (around 46 million U.S. dollars) in consumer vouchers and other subsidies will be distributed.
