China's domestically developed AG600 "Kunlong" amphibious aircraft has wrapped up its four months of aerial emergency response and forest fire prevention operations in Jiagedaqi of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, according to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China on Monday.

During the four-month deployment, the AG600 conducted 35 forest patrol flights, logging 100 hours of safe flight time and dropping around 390 tonnes of water.

The aircraft also took part in forest fire drills in the Greater Khingan Mountains, carrying out intensive firefighting operations, including coordinated air-ground responses and efforts to tackle crown fires.

With its ability to fly at low altitudes and speeds, large water-carrying capacity and strong maneuverability, the AG600 demonstrated its capabilities to respond to emergencies and fighting fires in complex forest environments.

The aircraft is developed to meet its needs for forest firefighting and water rescue and the world's largest civil amphibious aircraft by maximum takeoff weight. It will next enter regular deployment, supporting a new model for forest fire prevention and suppression.

China recorded over 300 million cross-regional passenger trips on Sunday, the fourth day of the week-long National Day holiday, signaling sustained appetite for domestic travel during official breaks.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the total volume reached 305.39 million trips, up 0.6 percent from the previous day and marking a 1.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Railway transport saw a significant surge, handling 20.32 million passenger trips. This represents a 5.4-percent day-on-day increase and a robust 10.8-percent jump compared to 2025.

Highway travel remained the dominant mode of transport, accounting for 280.92 million trips and driven largely by self-driving tours.

The waterway passenger volume stood at 1.828 million, while civil aviation handled 2.323 million trips.

As the holiday is nearing its end, transport authorities across the country are ramping up efforts to manage the massive return travel rush.

Local transportation departments are coordinating with railway operators to add extra train services and are extending subway operating hours to accommodate late-night arrivals.

Authorities have also increased bus shuttle services connecting major train stations, airports, and urban centers to ensure a smooth and efficient journey for returning travelers.
