Russia says contacts continue on possible Ukraine energy truce, no progress yet

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that contacts over a possible energy truce between Russia and Ukraine were continuing, but there had been no new progress.

Speaking at a regular press briefing in Moscow, Peskov reiterated that Russia seeks a lasting peace rather than a temporary truce.

He also said that there was no direct link between Russia's recent diesel supply agreement with Washington and Moscow's position on Ukraine, describing the deal as mutually beneficial and in the interests of global energy markets.

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin under which Russia would supply diesel fuel to the United States and global markets. Two days later, Trump announced an immediate "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday that Ukraine supports the energy ceasefire but reserves the right to retaliate if Moscow refuses to observe it.

He also accused Moscow of continuing to strike Ukrainian energy facilities.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that the Russian forces had carried out overnight strikes on Ukrainian military production, logistics and transport facilities in Kiev and the southern Mykolaiv region.

In Kiev, the strikes targeted a workshop at the Pulp Mill Print enterprise, allegedly used to manufacture long-range missiles and drones, and the Darnytsia locomotive depot, which the ministry said was used to repair railway rolling stock for transporting military cargo.

In the Mykolaiv region, the strikes hit a logistics center of Ukrainian postal company Nova Poshta in the settlement of Ternivka, allegedly used to store dual-use cargo, and a drone warehouse in the settlement of Mishkovo-Pohorilove, the ministry said in an online statement.

A dry cargo vessel carrying military and dual-use supplies bound for the port of Mykolaiv was also hit, according to the ministry.

The ministry said earlier that Russian air defenses had intercepted 604 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions overnight.

The China Media Group's (CMG's) "Win in AI+" is airing as a program dedicated to building China's leading platform for artificial intelligence entrepreneurship, with a "media plus" approach that connects entrepreneurs, investors, local governments, and experts and scholars in a full-factor ecosystem.

Positioned at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), the program aims to uncover scalable and replicable AI "China solutions" and identify China's next generation of AI "little dragons."

The second season of "Win in AI+" has formed a recruitment system featuring a "China home base with global participation." Its 29 roadshows have covered eight domestic and international AI innovation hubs — Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Tianjin, Hong Kong, and Singapore — drawing more than 1,000 AI startups in total. This marks the program's official shift from "deep domestic cultivation" to a new stage of "global connectivity."

Notably, in July this year, the CMG was invited to launch a special overseas edition of "Win in AI+" at the "AI for Good" Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, showcasing China's AI innovation achievements to the rest of the international community and engaging in in-depth dialogue with top global research institutions and international organizations, allowing the explorations and reflections of Chinese AI innovators to be "seen" by the rest of the world.
