China's domestic high-performance motorcycle and swallowable gastric endoscopy robot system have claimed the top prizes at the 2026 Canton Fair Design Award (CF Award), underscoring the shift of Chinese export products toward science and technology innovation.

The CF Award, established in 2013, includes Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, as well as the Supreme Gold Award. Judged by Chinese and international design experts and representatives from diverse fields, it serves as an innovation bellwether for the Canton Fair, officially known as the China Import and Export Fair.

This year, 222 products from 174 companies received awards, highlighting cutting-edge technology, intelligent systems and green, low-carbon design, including AI translation glasses, smart conference terminals, and photovoltaic curtain walls.

The ZXMOTO 820 RR, which won the Supreme Gold Award this year, features a maximum horsepower of 135 and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.81 seconds. Its track version is currently competing in the World Superbike Championship, where it has already claimed six round victories and ranks second. Organizers say its core technology, power performance and overall manufacturing have reached the world's forefront.

The second Supreme Gold Award went to the Zhixun Capsule Robot Gastric Endoscopy System, which is roughly the size of an ordinary pill. Swallowed like a capsule, the tiny robot automatically captures images and inspects the stomach, displaying real-time footage on a tablet. The technology completes a pain-free gastroscopy in about 20 minutes without intubation and allows doctors to examine patients remotely.

Beyond the current winners, the exhibition features a timeline corridor tracing the technological evolution of past CF Award products. From the first Supreme Gold Award winner, a baby monitor, in 2014, to a curtain wall cleaning robot in 2024 and a brain computer controlled bionic hand in 2025, hard technology is gradually dominating the showcase, a clear sign of Chinese export products transitioning from manufacturing to scientific and technological innovation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday requested at least another 70 billion euros (78.8 billion U.S. dollars) in European Union (EU) assistance for 2027, while expressing frustration over recent restrictions on U.S.-controlled Starlink services and Washington's dealings with Moscow.

Addressing EU leaders at a summit in Brussels, Zelensky said Ukraine's costs related to the war would reach 155 billion euros next year and appealed for additional funding for defense, weapons and resilience.

"We need at least 70 billion euros more from you -- for defense, for weapons, and for our resilience. This is a realistic amount. And I ask you to find this support," he said.

At a subsequent press conference, Zelensky acknowledged Ukraine's heavy reliance on the U.S.-controlled Starlink satellite communications system, saying recent restrictions had disrupted drone interceptions and military logistics.

"Starlink was not turned off, but the speed limits were lowered," he said, describing the restrictions as a "very dangerous and unpleasant surprise."

Zelensky also criticized Washington's recent diesel agreement with Moscow and the easing of sanctions, saying Ukraine had not been informed in advance, while adding that Ukrainian and American negotiating teams remained in contact.
