Diverse photographic styles from global creators are being presented at the 20th China International Photographic Art Exhibition, which opened on Saturday in Lishui City, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Despite its small size, Lishui for decades has been known as a China's "hometown" for photography, due to the history of renowned local photographers who built a strong community around capturing the area's natural beauty on camera.
The international exhibition in the city is displaying 243 works chosen from over 20,000 submissions. Photographers from 125 countries and regions submitted images on subjects ranging from people's lives to urban development and ecological conservation
"Lishui is a wonderful place. It's an international gathering for photographers, for photography. In my project, it's really those little daily work programs -- what a farmer is doing. It's nothing really special but it became special when you have your camera with you," said Klaus Einwanger, a German photographer.
Running until November 23, the event is expected to facilitate cross‑cultural dialogue and worldwide artistic exchange.
"Through this exhibition, we hope to draw public attention to ecological symbiosis and the relationship between humanity and nature, the authentic texture of our times, as well as cutting-edge explorations in photographic art around the world," said Chen Jin, Deputy Secretary-General of China Photographers Association.
