More than 30 Taiwan companies will participate in the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE), an import-themed trade fair that is held annually in Shanghai, a mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
This year, the expo is scheduled to open on Thursday and run through next Tuesday at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said that companies from Taiwan attending the expo cover multiple sectors, including food and daily chemicals, consumer goods, healthcare, precision manufacturing, and modern services.
"The 9th CIIE will open at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on Nov 5. More than 30 companies from the Taiwan region will participate in this expo, with a total exhibition area of approximately 4,200 square meters. They span several sectors, including food and daily chemical products, consumer goods, healthcare, precision manufacturing, and modern services," said Zhu.
She welcomed Taiwan companies to make good use of the platform and actively participate in China's new development paradigm.
"The outline for the 15th Five-Year Plan calls for promoting high-standard opening up and creating new horizons for mutually beneficial cooperation. Hosting CIIE is a major step taken by the Chinese mainland to advance a new round of high-level opening-up and to open its market to the world. We welcome more Taiwan business people and enterprises to make full use of CIIE -- a vital platform -- to display their products, tap into the mainland market, and actively integrate into the new development paradigm. Together with compatriots on the mainland, they can help create and share in the fruits of Chinese modernization," said Zhu.
