China and the United States should work in the same direction to promote stable and sound development of economic and trade relations between the two sides, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said in Beijing on Friday.

Guo made the statement at a regular press briefing when taking a media query about the import of U.S. agricultural products.

"Maintaining the stable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations serves the interests of both countries and both peoples, and is also conducive to global economic development. The two sides should work in the same direction, adhere to the principle of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and promote the sustained, stable and sound development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations," said Guo.
