Major expos hosted by China serve as important windows on the country's global connectedness and how it enables development and delivers for the people across the world, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.

Guo's remarks came in reply to a question regarding the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which opened on Thursday in Shanghai, and the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), which concluded on Wednesday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.

"These expos are important windows on China's global connectedness and how it enables development and delivers for the people across the world. In his keynote speech at the CIIE opening ceremony, [Chinese] Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang noted that the CIIE, since its inception, has witnessed China's firm resolve and concrete actions to advance high-standard opening up, the tangible outcomes and substantial benefits achieved by businesses and people from all countries in sharing opportunities in the Chinese market, and the unremitting efforts and important contributions of people from all sectors to improving global economic governance," Guo said.

"Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang shared four observations on realizing the balance of trade. First, countries should share market opportunities, enhance openness and connectivity, better leverage their respective comparative advantages, and promote balance by making the economic pie bigger together. Second, countries should engage in deeper investment cooperation, make efforts to optimize the cross-border layout of industries, create favorable conditions for businesses, and promote balance through integration into global industrial and supply chains. Third, countries should harness innovation, improve supply quality, expand the frontiers of trade, and promote balance through advancing transformation and upgrading. Fourth, countries should enhance mutual understanding and trust, give due consideration to each other's legitimate concerns, resolve differences through consultation, and promote balance by removing barriers," he said.

Guo said China will work with relevant parties to make the CIIE successful, fully leverage the four major platforms of international procurement, investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges, and openness and cooperation, and bring more benefits to the people of countries around the world.

China's hydrogen energy industry has grown rapidly this year, with investment in the sector doubling in the first three quarters, according to the National Energy Administration on Thursday.

Data showed that in the first three quarters, total investment in China's hydrogen energy industry reached 28.7 billion yuan (about 4.29 billion U.S. dollars), up 108 percent year on year, a doubling.

In the same period, more than 10 new renewable hydrogen production projects broke ground, adding 100,000 tons of newly commissioned capacity.

To date, China's completed and operational renewable hydrogen production projects have a cumulative annual capacity of more than 350,000 tons, accounting for over 50 percent of global capacity, while projects under construction have an annual capacity of more than 1.2 million tons, both at a globally leading level.

By region, North China has the highest completed capacity which stands at 45 percent of the national total, followed by Northeast China at 36 percent and Northwest China at 15 percent. Among China's renewable hydrogen production projects, the scale of individual projects is rising rapidly, with projects of 10,000 tons or more accounting for nearly half.
