China's first low-altitude meteorological industry cluster has taken shape in Shenzhen, a tech hub in south China's Guangdong Province, which is expected to escort the rapid development of the country's low-altitude economy.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Weather Research Center for Monitoring Warning and Forecasting under the China Meteorological Administration now is ramping up efforts to construct the experimental zone for meteorological sci-tech industry cluster development.
The center is capable of providing low-altitude meteorological data baselines for 146 columns of data standards in 38 classes spanning 12 categories.
The near, short, medium and long-term forecast products generated there have uniform standards, and the real-time data such as precise wind speed and rainfall can cover the low-altitude take-off and landing points and air route grid points in Shenzhen in accordance with actual needs.
"Our main products are laser wind-detecting radar products. After the installation of laser wind-detecting radar and other related devices, our services will completely cover the low-altitude take-off and landing points, air routes and low-altitude airspace in Shenzhen, and radiate to surrounding air routes, providing real-time high-resolution meteorological data, which will improve the support and efficiency management capabilities for the meteorological safety of low-altitude flights," said Zhao Deping, one of the first scientific and technological personnel settled in the experimental zone.
The formation of the first low-altitude meteorological industry cluster in China is of great significance to the construction of low-altitude economic infrastructure.
In the future, the country's meteorological departments will integrate meteorological tasks related to low-altitude flight safety from various levels such as aircraft manufacturing, airworthiness certification, flight control, and airspace division, and will also reinforce the management of low-altitude meteorological monitoring and forecasting services within the sector.
