The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were recovered from the passenger jet by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) late on Thursday afternoon and provided to engineers. The devices are being analyzed by a working group, according to the NTSB.

Both the flight data recorder, which contains about two hours and four minutes of high-quality audio, and the cockpit voice recorder, which captures the entire course of the flight, have been successfully downloaded, officials confirmed. The NTSB said that five air traffic controllers were in the Reagan National Airport traffic control cab at the time of the collision. Investigators are expected to interview the operational supervisor and the operational supervisor in training by the end of Monday.

The D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department confirmed Saturday that 42 sets of remains have been recovered from the Potomac River, 38 of which have been identified.

The PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter with three soldiers on board over the Potomac River around 21:00 when it was approaching the Reagan National Airport. Both the aircraft crashed into the river. None of the 67 people have survived.
