The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command has completed all designated tasks of the joint exercises carried out from Tuesday to Wednesday in the Taiwan Strait, a spokesman for the PLA Eastern Theater Command said Wednesday.

The exercises tested the troops' integrated joint operations capabilities, according to Senior Colonel Shi Yi, the spokesman.

Troops of the theater command remain on high alert at all times, and will continue to strengthen combat readiness with intensive training, resolutely thwarting any separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence."

Under the unified command of the theater command, the Shandong aircraft carrier task group, in coordination with naval and air units, conducted drills focusing on vessel-aircraft coordination, seizure of air superiority, and strikes on ground and maritime targets in areas to the east of Taiwan Island.

The drills were aimed at evaluating troops' capabilities of integrated operations inside and outside the island chain, multi-dimensional blockade and control, and joint operations of multiple services, the spokesman said.

A squadron of H-6K bombers, armed with live ammunition, flew across the Bashi Channel into open waters and simulated multiple joint strikes on key military targets on eastern areas of the Taiwan Island.

To support the bombers, the air force of the Eastern Theater Command deployed multiple waves of warplanes of different types to the Taiwan Strait and to the island's southwest to establish attack formations and simulate strikes to secure an aerial assault corridor and establish air superiority.

"Long-duration flights and high-intensity confrontations have become routine for us. My comrades and I stand in a constant state of readiness. Whenever our country calls, we are prepared to take off and fight," said Wang Yiduan, a pilot of the air force of the PLA Eastern Theater Command.

The PLA Eastern Theater Command conducted military exercises code-named "Strait Thunder-2025A" in the middle and southern areas of the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday.

The exercises focused on identification and verification, warning and expulsion, and interception and detention to test the troops' capabilities of area regulation and control, joint blockade and control, and precision strikes on key targets.

The ground force of the theater command conducted long-range live-fire drills in waters of the East China Sea according to training plans of the "Strait Thunder-2025A" exercise, carrying out precision strikes on simulated targets of key ports and energy facilities.

The long-range live-fire exercise tested the integration of new systems, the deployment of advanced equipment, and new combat tactics, and explored tactics featuring multi-platform coordinated assaults and mixed munitions strikes, so as to enhance rapid fire response and precision joint operations.

"Following combat orders, we have established direct coordination with the air force, the rocket force, and other forces to enhance joint long-range precision strikes," said Tao Chenglong, a soldier of the ground force of the PLA Eastern Theater Command.

Amid the ruins of Gaza, 15-year-old Palestinian artist Sara Abu Saadeh is documenting life in the war-torn Gaza Strip through her drawings, aiming to bring hope to its residents and make their voices heard around the world.

Displaced from Beit Lahia, Saadeh is currently living in Gaza City. With limited access to proper art supplies, she creates her work using charcoal from a rooftop tent overlooking areas of displacement, capturing themes of life, loss, and resilience.

"My talent is drawing. Through it, I try to document every moment I lived through during the war, and I try to get my voice and message heard all over the world through my drawings," said Saadeh.

Through her works, Saadeh strives to offer a glimmer of hope to the people in Gaza, even if that hope feels distant.

"Through my drawings, I try to give hope. Even if that hope feels distant, it exists, and in the end, God willing, we will reach it. I wish for Gaza to be rebuilt, for the sounds we hear to stop, and for my drawings to reach the world, so that the whole world can hear the voice I am trying to deliver. I dream of participating in international exhibitions, presenting my artworks myself, and speaking about my paintings and explaining them," she said.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel, which erupted on Oct 7, 2023, has killed 71,667 Palestinians and injured 171,434 others, Gaza's health authorities said on Wednesday.

Even after a ceasefire agreement took effect on Oct 11, 2025, the death toll has continued to climb, with 492 additional deaths and 1,356 injuries recorded.
