China showcased its information combat capabilities on Wednesday in a grand military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

In the parade, three distinct formations of the information warfare equipment marched past the Tian'anmen Square, namely, the cyberspace warfare formation, the electronic countermeasure formation, and the information support formation.

The cyberspace warfare formation displayed four types of equipment capable of command and control, reconnaissance and sensing, and network-electronic warfare, which can consolidate cyber defense and empower all-domain operations.

The second formation featured five types of electronic countermeasure equipment, which are capable of aerial and space defense and countermeasures, disconnecting enemy networks, and breaking digital chains.

A key highlight is that all the electronic countermeasure equipment demonstrated in the parade is independently developed by China and represents the main electronic warfare systems of the Chinese military currently in active service.

The information support formation included vehicles of cloud computing, digital intelligence, air-ground networks, and integrated information. They can quickly establish new types of cyber systems to support joint operations.

Wednesday's parade consists of two parts -- a military review by President Xi Jinping and a march-past of troops at the Tian'anmen Square.

The information combat formations are one of the seven armament formation groups that belong to the march-past segment. The other six series of armament formations, organized into joint combat-oriented groups, are the land combat group, the maritime combat group, the air defense and anti-missile operations group, the unmanned combat group, the logistics and equipment support group, and the strategic strike group.

Japan officially surrendered on Sept 2, 1945, by signing the Instrument of Surrender. China designated Sept 3 as Victory Day.

The theme of this year's parade is to affirm the Chinese people's commitment to peace and the armed forces' determination to safeguard it.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday presided over a State Council executive meeting that studied work on building a unified national market and reviewed and approved a plan for the development of a modern emergency response system during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

Noting that building a unified national market is essential to advancing high-quality development, the meeting called for deepening institutional frameworks in areas such as property rights protection, market access, fair competition, social credit and market exit mechanisms.

The meeting also urged efforts to advance high-standard connectivity of market infrastructure to facilitate smooth economic circulation and effectively reduce logistics costs across society.

Emergency management is critical to protecting people's lives and property, the meeting said. It called for accelerating the development of a modern emergency response system, deepening reform and innovation in emergency management, and improving coordinated response mechanisms.

Efforts should be made to strengthen risk prevention at the source, enhance monitoring, forecasting and early warning, and accelerate a shift in governance toward proactive prevention, according to the meeting.

A draft revision of the Law on the People's Bank of China was also discussed and approved in principle at the meeting, which decided to submit the draft to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for deliberation.
