Foreign dignitaries have hailed the five-day 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) as a platform for cooperation and shared prosperity.

The 2025 CIFTIS opened in Beijing on Wednesday under the theme of "Embrace Intelligent Technologies, Empower Trade in Services".

Ireland's Ambassador to China Nicholas O'Brien emphasized the importance of CIFTIS in building a bridge for enterprises from both countries to cooperate and achieve shared prosperity.

"I think CIFTIS is really important because it offers a platform for companies, for Irish companies to come here. And it allows companies in both countries in both Ireland and China to work together and to grow their companies and grow prosperity for peoples in both countries," said Nicholas O'Brien.

Henning Kristoffersen, commercial counselor at the Norwegian Embassy in China, expressed high hopes for Norwegian companies to explore the Chinese market and seek partnerships through CIFTIS.

"We have a lot of hopes for CIFTIS because this is a great platform for our Norwegian companies to showcase their products, but also to meet potential Chinese partners and Chinese customers for their products. China is a huge market and for us, the trade between Norway and China is very important," said Henning.

David Lewis, executive dean of Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology at Adelaide University, shared his excitement about attending CIFTIS for the first time and his goal to promote the university and build academic and industry ties.

"This is my first time to come to CIFTIS. I'm very excited about the opportunity to meet lots of new people. My expectation is to meet new people to find new opportunities for trade. So we're very keen to show our brand to China through CIFTIS. So people know about our new university. We want to make new contacts with both academia and industry,"said Lewis.

As the world's first and largest comprehensive exhibition dedicated to service trades, CIFTIS has, since its launch in 2012, attracted nearly 1.19 million exhibitors, traders, and participants from 198 countries and regions, along with more than 800 international business associations and institutions. Over 13 years of growth, CIFTIS has evolved into both a vital window showcasing China's achievements in service trades and an important platform for advancing international cooperation.

A two-day robot fair, part of the shopping campaign for the upcoming Spring Festival, opened on Friday in Suzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, featuring a range of innovative new robots.

Nearly 20 domestic service robot companies showcased their latest products at the event.

A fluffy, child-friendly robot resembling a cat with winking eyes captivated many children.

"The toys at my home can't answer questions. But when I ask this robot, it responds. It's very useful and smart," said a girl.

"We brought here 30 robots to give it a try. But after just one morning, there are only five left now," said Qian Xiaoyu, a PR director from Tuya Smart, a global AI cloud platform service provider.

Robot vacuums are widely used in households, and with the advancement of AI technology, they are becoming increasingly intelligent.

"Some vacuum cleaners may be disrupted by a moving pet, but our models, equipped with a dual-eye obstacle avoidance system, can accurately identify moving obstacles and avoid collisions," said Li Xiuyan, product manager at Dreame Technology.

A wearable exoskeleton robot, equipped with advanced automatic sensing technology, offers a solution for the elderly who struggle with walking, enhancing mobility and independence in their daily lives.

"It's incredibly easy to walk now. I feel as if my legs are lifting effortlessly," said an elderly man.
