The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 65,502, with 167,376 injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Thursday.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks killed 83 people and injured 216 others in Gaza, the statement said.
Among the casualties, seven people were killed and 50 injured while seeking food at aid distribution sites, the statement added.
Since the U.S.- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began distributing aid supplies on May 27, 2,538 people seeking aid have been killed and 18,581 injured in Gaza, according to the authorities.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Thursday that its troops had dismantled a Hamas stronghold in Gaza City, where they found large quantities of weapons including firearms and explosive devices.
IDF spokesman Effie Defrin said on Thursday that the Israeli military had killed another member of Hamas who he claimed participated in the Oct 7 attacks against Israel.
Hamas has not yet responded to the Israeli statements.
