China strongly urges Japan to immediately stop its dangerous moves of harassing China's normal military exercise and training, and halt all irresponsible disinformation and political manipulation that mislead the international community, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun on Monday.
The spokesman made the comments in response to a relevant query on the remarks made by Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi at an emergency press conference on the early morning of Dec. 7.
"China has already stated its solemn position on this issue, and the facts are very clear. China's training exercises in the relevant sea and air areas are in accordance with international law and practice, and the relevant operations are professional, standardized, and beyond reproach. Activating search radar during carrier-based aircraft flight training is a common practice in all countries and a normal operation to ensure flight safety. The key issue in this incident is that Japanese fighter jets intruded into China's training area without authorization, conducting close-in reconnaissance and interference with China's military activities. Furthermore, Japan has preemptively accused China of 'radar illumination', distorting the truth, shifting blame, and misleading the international community. China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this and has lodged a solemn representation and strong protest with Japan. It is clear to everyone that Japan is deliberately spreading and hyping up false information in the military and security field, exaggerating tensions with ulterior motives. We strongly urge Japan to immediately cease its dangerous actions that interfere with China's normal training activities and to stop all irresponsible hype and political manipulation," said Guo.
