Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the total trading turnover at the A-share market reaching a record high for the second consecutive day.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.64 percent to 4,138.76 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.37 percent lower at 14,169.40 points.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped 1.96 percent to close at 3,321.89 points.
