China's State Post Bureau announced Monday that the express delivery development index for January and February rose by 1.5 percent year on year, indicating steady growth and robust resilience in the market.
According to the latest statistics from the bureau, the index reached 374.1 in the first two months of 2026.
This growth was driven by multiple factors, including the Spring Festival holiday and consumption vouchers and subsidies, which collectively supported the steady expansion of the express delivery sector.
In January, average daily volume of express deliveries exceeded 590 million items.
During the Spring Festival travel rush that runs from Feb 2 through March 13, daily volume rose to approximately 670 million items in the first week.
Delivery personnel remained steadfast throughout the holiday, ensuring robust service. After the holiday, the industry quickly returned to normal operations, with peak daily volumes surpassing 700 million items.
"During the Spring Festival holiday, demand for delivering festive goods and tourist products was strong. Fresh items such as beef, mutton, seafood, and fruits, along with electronic products, saw a marked increase in delivery volumes. Express delivery companies enhanced their response speed and service accuracy through innovations in products, technology and business models, fueling the continued growth of holiday consumption," said Liu Jiang, director of the strategic planning department at the State Post Bureau's Development Research Center.
