Chinese yuan weakens to 6.8187 against USD Tuesday

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 20 pips to 6.8187 against the U.S. dollar Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.

The benchmark FTSE 100 Index in London fell 0.68 percent to close at 10,338.95 points. France's CAC 40 index dropped 0.45 percent to finish at 8,146.59 points. Germany's DAX index declined 0.40 percent to end the session at 25,003.04 points.
