China calls on the United States to fully lift its sanctions against Venezuela, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Mao responded to a media inquiry on the United States lifting some sanctions measures to enable humanitarian aid while other restrictions and the freezing of Venezuelan assets remain in place.

"China has always opposed illegal unilateral sanctions that lack any basis in international law. We call on the U.S. to fully lift its illegal unilateral sanctions against Venezuela at an early date to create favorable conditions for Venezuela's post-disaster reconstruction," she said.
