Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.26 percent to 3,990.24 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.24 percent lower at 15,225.11 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices reached 2.6 trillion yuan (about 382.05 billion U.S. dollars), down from 3.11 trillion yuan in the previous trading day.
Stocks related to games, cultivated diamonds, and semiconductors led the gains, while precious metals and pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors were among the top decliners.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.94 percent to close at 3,911.91 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.18 percent lower at 2,315.59 points.
