The high-mountain wheat crops in many parts of northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have ripened and entered the peak harvest season, prompting local authorities to seize the fine weather window and scientifically allocate agricultural machinery to accelerate the harvest progress.
In Jimsar County of the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, large combine harvesters are seen shuttling through the wheat fields, completing harvesting and threshing in a single operation.
The local wheat-growing areas are all at an altitude of about 1,700 meters, benefiting from abundant sunshine and a wide gap between day and night temperatures. This helps produce grains with high quality.
In Tekes County of the Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, more than 80,000 mu (about 5,333 hectares) of wheat crops are now entering the harvest season, with most wheat grown in mountainous areas.
The local government has coordinated the deployment of agricultural machinery suitable for mountainous terrain, including combine harvesters and high-horsepower tractors, and is making the most of the favorable weather conditions to accelerate the harvest.
"This year I've planted 1,000 mu (about 67 hectares) of wheat, with a yield of about 450 kg per mu (6,750 kg per hectare). The yield is quite good," said Ma Yulong, a local farmer.
