A series of violent attacks, including arson and explosions, were reported in the southern border provinces in Thailand on Saturday evening.

According to Thai media reports, successive violent incidents occurred in the Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani Provinces starting from 20:00 local time on Saturday.

The incidents included setting fire to administrative offices, burning car tires, and blowing up power poles and convenience stores. At least 11 incidents occurred in Narathiwat Province, with one car explosion causing two injuries.

The Narathiwat Task Force announced in a Facebook post that the entire province would be under curfew from 22:15 Saturday until 06:00 Sunday, noting that residents must obtain permission from local military, police or administrative authorities before leaving in case of urgent matters.

Thailand's Fourth Army Regional Command on Saturday night advised the public to stay vigilant following the occurrence of the violent incidents.

The "China Corner" themed exhibition on the sidelines of the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) underway in Ulan Bator, capital of Mongolia, has drawn great attention by showcasing China's experience and achievements in combating desertification.

Held under the overall theme of COP17 -- "Restoring Land, Restoring Hope," the exhibition presents China's efforts and achievements in combating desertification through five chapters, covering China's major ecological projects, prairie conservation and restoration, international cooperation, scientific prevention and control, and coordinated development of ecological industries.

During COP17, which runs through Aug. 28, the "China Corner" will also host a series of other thematic sideline events to facilitate exchanges on ideas, technologies, and practices for combating desertification.

At a COP17 sideline event on Saturday, China and Arab countries jointly released a five-year plan for desertification control, marking another dedicated effort to address drought, desertification and land degradation with regional collaborations.
