The China Coast Guard on Sunday organized a law enforcement and control drill in waters near Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea, deploying multiple vessels to test rapid response and emergency handling capabilities.
As a combat alarm sounded, a coast guard fleet composed of the Wanshan, Chuanshan, Sifang and other vessels immediately adjusted course and rapidly maneuvered toward the target area. Coast guard law enforcement personnel swiftly took their positions and prepared for action.
The exercise included boarding inspection, intercepting intrusions and forced towing. Law enforcement ships of different tonnage and types coordinated their operations, with multiple subjects carried out in joint actions.
The drill simulated a scenario in which multiple foreign vessels illegally intruded into China's jurisdictional waters near Huangyan Dao. After receiving a simulated situation report, commanders quickly issued orders, and the fleet sped forward to conduct verification and identification, and to control and expel the target vessels.
