The 2026 China Outdoor Sports Industry Conference wrapped up on Sunday in Beijing's Changping District, with a focus on the industry's technology-driven growth.

The four-day event featured five major sections ranging from an opening ceremony and thematic activities to sports shows, resource promotions and competitions. These included two national-level competitions spanning kayaking, running, cycling and trail running.

Drawing on the capital's strengths, the event highlighted technological innovation and smart manufacturing. It aimed to optimize the industry's layout and deepen its integration with digital technology, green ecology, urban tourism and consumer spending.

The conference also released the China Outdoor Sports Industry Development Report, which shows that more than 500 million people in China now take part in outdoor sports, with the industry's total scale exceeding 3 trillion yuan (about 450 billion U.S. dollars).

According to statistics from the Sports Economy Department of China's General Administration of Sport, outdoor sports are gaining popularity in third- and fourth-tier cities, where strong consumer enthusiasm has driven consumption to 42 percent of the national total.
