China's industrial product logistics value increased by 5.3 percent year on year in the first three quarters of this year, contributing 78 percent of the growth in total social logistics value, data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Sunday showed.

As the country's logistics demand maintained steady growth in the first nine months, high-end manufacturing and green, circular economy-related activities emerged as increasingly important sources of growth, with the industrial logistics base remaining solid

The shares of equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing continued to expand, with logistics demand surging in sectors including the manufacturing of integrated circuits, spacecraft and launch vehicles, and optoelectronic devices.

Logistics volumes for smart products such as smart wristbands, 3D printing equipment and sensors also increased rapidly, while the output of industrial control computers and systems grew by over 25 percent, reflecting a distinct shift toward upgraded industrial logistics

In terms of import logistics, the volume of energy and resource-related imports declined, while high-tech products such as integrated circuits, diodes, semiconductor devices and machine tools posted steady growth, alongside a significant surge in imports of high-quality fresh consumer goods.

Beyond home appliances and smart devices, the domestic retail penetration rate of new energy vehicles exceeded 60 percent for six consecutive months, and logistics volume linked to power-battery production surged 43.5 percent year on year, reflecting strong momentum in demand for green logistics.

"China's logistics demand is currently undergoing clear upgrading, with high-tech and intelligent equipment driving industrial logistics to transform toward greater time-efficiency and higher added value. At the same time, consumption upgrading and green transformation are giving rise to a large number of emerging logistics demands. Changes in the demand structure are prompting continuous iteration of the logistics demand and supply system, and the supporting role of logistics in production, distribution, circulation, and consumption continues to become more evident," said Liu Yuhang, director of the China Logistics Information Center.

Giant panda Lang Yue safely arrived in Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan in southwest China, on Saturday morning, after departing from Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen, the Netherlands.

The panda was then sent to the Ya'an base of China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, where it will undergo at least 30 days of quarantine.

Lang Yue is the second cub born to giant pandas Wu Wen and Xing Ya, who were leased to the Netherlands in April 2017, marking the official start of China-Netherlands giant panda conservation and research cooperation. Through this partnership, the two countries have achieved positive results in panda rearing, scientific research, technical exchanges and public education.

Wu Wen and Xing Ya successfully delivered and raised two female cubs in the Netherlands -- Fan Xing, born in May 2020 and Lang Yue, born in July 2024. Fan Xing returned to China in September 2023.

The Ya'an base has prepared enclosures, feed and other quarantine support for Lang Yue. Keepers will closely monitor its health condition throughout the quarantine period and help her get adapted to life in its new home as soon as possible.
