China's national legislature holds closing meeting of annual session

The 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's national legislature, held the closing meeting of its fourth session on Thursday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, and other Party and state leaders attended the meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting.

This year's session of the NPC opened on March 5.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower Thursday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.7 percent to close at 25,716.76 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 0.06 percent to end at 8,699.55 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 0.54 percent to end at 5,027.64 points.
