Technical-level talks between Iran and the United States will resume next Tuesday after a temporary pause, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Andrabi said Pakistan and Qatar will continue to engage with technical teams from the United States and Iran in the coming weeks to ensure the effective implementation of the peace Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The peace MoU and the first session of U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland have reinforced faith in dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means for the peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts, according to the spokesperson.

He welcomed the positive recognition and encouraging remarks from various countries and international partners regarding Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace, dialogue and de-escalation efforts.

The spokesperson also expressed Pakistan's appreciation to all countries and partners that have supported its mediation efforts.

Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said Sunday the country has discovered more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet (21.24 billion cubic meters) of gas reserves in a field in the southern Fars province.

Nearly 5.7 trillion cubic feet of gas can be extracted from the field, considering a recovery factor of about 72 to 73 percent, Paknejad said in an interview with state-run IRIB TV.

"The newly-discovered resources add tens of billions of dollars to the intrinsic value of the country's wealth," he said, adding the field also contains a significant amount of gas condensate reserves.

Iran holds nearly 34 trillion cubic meters of proven gas reserves, according to data by the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. After Russia, the country has the second-largest gas reserves in the world.
