A short video creative camp titled "SCO: Youth in Action" concluded Sunday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the role of young creators in strengthening cultural ties and people‑to‑people exchange across the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The event ran alongside the 2026 SCO Summit from Aug 31 to Sept 1 and was co‑hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and Kyrgyzstan's National Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation.

Launched to showcase youth perspectives on SCO cooperation, the creative camp was jointly organized by CMG's "Bond with China" program, the SCO Secretariat and the bloc's Good‑Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission.

Over six months, the "Bond with China" program brought together young people from all 10 SCO member states to film in China's Shanghai, Xi'an, Qingdao, Kashgar and Changzhou, focusing on themes such as innovation, heritage, connectivity and youth partnership.

Their works highlighted technological innovation, cultural heritage, people‑to‑people connectivity and youth partnership, vividly demonstrating the vitality of SCO multilateral cooperation. The "Shanghai Spirit" -- the bloc's guiding ethos of mutual trust, equality, consultation and respect for cultural diversity -- was showcased as the central theme in cross‑border exchanges.

"Projects like 'SCO: Youth in Action' help young people from SCO member states better understand each other, build mutual connections and appreciate the cultural diversity of our organization," said Nurlan Yermekbayev, secretary-general of the SCO.

An Australian national has been located safe and sound after a deadly mudslide struck the China-Nepal border, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said in Beijing on Tuesday, noting that the individual was not in the core disaster zone and has contacted the Australian Embassy in Beijing. He made the statement in response to a media query on the Australian national.

"We've learned that this Australian national was not in the hardest-hit area and has got into contact with the Australian Embassy in Beijing. China is continuing the all-out search and rescue for missing Chinese and foreign nationals. We will stay in close communication with foreign embassies in China to jointly identify missing foreign nationals and properly handle follow-up matters," Guo said.
