達美客機戴有150人
《CNN》報道，達美航空發表聲明，指遇到驚嚇的是達美航空590航班，機上載有144名乘客和6 名機組人員，當時在貝尼托·華雷斯國際機場 (Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez) 跑道上開始滑行時，機師發現另一架飛機突然在前面降落。

兩機上下距離不到60米
航班追蹤網站 Flightradar 24 顯示，搶跑道的是墨西哥航空區間航空公司1631號航班，是一架墨西哥航空聯運公司 (AeroMéxico) 的E-190支線客機，當時在737上方不到60米處，然後降落在5R跑道上。

達美客機終止起飛
達美客機的機師選擇停止起飛並返回航站大樓，在確定安全後重新升空，飛往目的地亞特蘭大，行程比預定時間遲了約3個小時。達美航空表示，已向墨西哥航空管理局、美國聯邦航空管理局、美國國家運輸安全委員會報告了這宗事件。

墨總統表示會徹查
墨西哥總統辛鮑姆說：「錯誤總是會發生的。幸運的是，這次沒有發生嚴重事故，我們正在進行審查並採取一切必要措施，以確保此類情況不再發生」。
墨西哥航空沒有回應
達美航空聲表示：「我們讚賞機組人員保持警覺並迅速採取合理的行動，這是達美航空全面培訓的一部分。當然，達美航空將全力配合有關部門一起調查此次航班情況。」不過，墨西哥航空公司與民航單位，沒有對此事做出立即回應。
