事發後一度中斷的救援工作，9日早恢復。不過，消防人員經過確認，未能在坑內發現貨車司機下落的任何線索，加上外溢污水及有內壁崩塌等二次災害危險，決定放棄在大坑內的搜救行動，再評估更換搜救位置。

事發在上月28日，八潮市一個路口發生路陷，形成一個大坑，一輛貨車跌落坑內，司機被困，下落不明。因大坑內積水、現場土壤脆弱，以及管道內充斥有毒氣體，搜救工作一度暫停多日。
