曾引領視像通訊革命的Skype宣布於2025年5月5日終止服務，結束22年營運歷史。
全球3億人回憶正式落幕
母公司微軟證實此消息，並呼籲現有用戶轉移至旗下主力通訊平台Microsoft Teams，標誌著網路通訊一個時代的終結。據《華盛頓郵報》記載，Skype全盛時期全球用戶數突破3億，其免費網路電話服務曾徹底改變國際通訊模式。

從創業神話到微軟收購
2003年由歐洲創業家Niklas Zennström與Janus Friis創立的Skype，憑藉簡易操作與穩定通話品質迅速風靡全球。2005年以26億美元（約203億港元）天價被eBay收購，其後在2011年再由微軟以85億美元（約663億港元）收購，成為Windows系統內建通訊工具，更整合了Windows Live Messenger等平台。

Teams崛起取代元祖地位
微軟2016年推出Teams應對職場通訊需求，2018年開放免費版本後快速擴張，至2024年首季全球月活躍用戶已達3.2億。
相較之下，Skype用戶數從2020年的4,000萬持續下滑至2023年的3,600萬，反映市場偏好轉變。微軟強調將提供無縫遷移服務，用戶對話紀錄與聯絡人均可完整轉移至Teams。

創辦人感懷通訊革命初心
Skype聯合創辦人Zennström在LinkedIn發文追憶，指出當年創立目標是「打破通訊壟斷」，如今雖服務終止，但其培育的創新精神持續影響科技界——逾900間由前員工創立的公司仍在歐洲活躍。微軟高層Jeff Teper亦致謝Skype對現代通訊的深遠貢獻，承諾Teams將繼承其連結世界的使命。
