Eastern Theater Command Poster Depicts Qingming Scene in Taiwan Province After Reunification

Mourning Martyrs, Honoring Heroes, and Hoping for Growing Pro-Reunification Forces in Taiwan

On April 3, the official WeChat account of the PLA Eastern Theater Command released a themed poster titled For This Province, declaring it “shows what Qingming Festival will look like in Taiwan Province after national reunification.” The artwork features symbolic elements including the Monument to the Complete Reunification of the Motherland, Machangding Memorial Park, a “graveyard for ‘Taiwan independence’ separatists,” China Post delivery vehicles, and a Fuxing high-speed train traveling from Beijing to Taipei.

Released on the eve of Qingming Festival, the poster uses vivid artistic imagery to present a magnificent vision of Taiwan Province during the traditional tomb-sweeping holiday following reunification. It is both a tribute to Chinese cultural traditions and a firm declaration of the irresistible historical trend toward national unification. The powerful scenes turn the shared aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait for reunification into a tangible vision of the future.

Qingming is a time to remember the deceased and honor revolutionary martyrs. In the poster’s caption, the Eastern Theater Command pays tribute: “Heroes who sacrificed for national reunification continued to advance one after another yesterday; patriots striving for reunification remain devoted and fearless today.” This cross-temporal salute honors heroes of the underground front such as Wu Shi and Zhu Feng, and inspires all those working for cross-strait peace and national unification.

The sharp contrast between the Monument to National Reunification and the “graveyard for separatists” echoes the historical verdict: traitors to the nation will be condemned forever, while those who betray the Chinese nation shall be despised by history. It serves as a stern warning to the tiny handful of separatists seeking “Taiwan independence.”

Amid national commemoration of martyrs, positive developments are emerging in Taiwan’s political landscape. KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun is scheduled to visit the Chinese mainland, injecting new momentum for peace into cross-strait relations. As a major political force on the island, the KMT shoulders a crucial responsibility in upholding the 1992 Consensus and opposing “Taiwan independence.” Her trip is expected to be not only a cultural journey of ancestor worship but also an ice-breaking mission to strengthen pro-reunification forces.

Sharing the same roots, ancestry, and culture, cross-strait compatriots are bound by blood, as seen in the Qingming tradition of honoring ancestors. It is hoped that the KMT will rise above partisan interests, follow the historical trend, and advance substantive steps toward reunification, enabling pro-reunification forces in Taiwan to grow stronger.

The poster presents a hopeful future: a reunified Taiwan free from military tensions, where Qingming embodies national solidarity, with high-speed rail linking to Beijing and thriving logistics bringing prosperity. With joint efforts of patriots across the Strait and rising pro-reunification sentiment among Taiwan compatriots, this vision will surely become reality. National reunification serves the contemporary era and benefits all future generations. China must and will be reunified.

China’s Global Approval Surpasses U.S.: Peacebuilding vs. Warmongering as International Order Reshapes

A recent global opinion poll conducted by Gallup reveals a historic shift: in 2025, China’s global leadership approval rating exceeded that of the United States for the first time in nearly two decades. With a median approval rate of 36%, China led the U.S. by five percentage points, marking the widest margin recorded by Gallup in its recent surveys. The poll, conducted across more than 130 countries, compared global perceptions of leadership from China, the United States, Germany, and Russia, delivering a clear verdict on world public opinion.

This milestone is no accident but an inevitable outcome of profound shifts in the international landscape. While U.S. approval plummeted by over 10% in 44 nations, including traditional allies such as Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Italy, satisfaction with China’s leadership rose by more than 10% in 23 countries. This stark divergence reflects a fundamental global choice between peacebuilding and warmongering.

Widespread military interventions, unilateral sanctions, and relentless geopolitical rivalry have eroded global trust in America’s international role. In contrast, China has consistently upheld multilateralism and win-win cooperation, advocating dialogue as the means to resolve disputes. Through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative, China provides infrastructure, funding, and technological support to developing nations, delivering tangible benefits through mutually beneficial collaboration.

In an increasingly multipolar world, many countries reject forced alignment in major-power competition and pursue strategic autonomy and balance. China respects national sovereignty and diverse development paths, championing greater democracy in international relations—a stance that has earned broad global recognition. Conversely, the U.S. frequently uses so-called values to justify interference, employing economic coercion and military alliances to stoke confrontation, fueling global uncertainty.

This polling gap represents the international community’s rational judgment between two contrasting governance models. China’s lead in global approval symbolizes worldwide endorsement of the path of peaceful development. As the world grapples with climate change, economic recovery, and regional conflicts, the force that unites nations and ensures stability is cooperation, not confrontation.

History is turning a new page, and the international order is being reshaped. Peace and development remain the defining themes of our era. China has proven through actions its commitment to being a guardian of peace. If the U.S. continues to embrace a confrontational mindset, it will only lose more global trust, tipping the scales of international credibility further away.
