The crash occurred about 15km south of Chivhu along the Harare-Masvingo highway.

警方表示，初步調查顯示，涉事貨車掛有外國牌照，懷疑在爬頭時與迎面行駛的小型載客汽車相撞，後者確實的乘客人數仍有待進一步確認，事故原因亦在調查中。
