The Hong Kong Journalists Association recently submitted a proposal to the Security Bureau regarding the introduction of Article 23 of the Basic Law. It claimed that the definition of "state secrets" is vague, worried that the media may reduce reporting due to fear of violating the law, and requested the SAR government to clearly state all relevant provisions in the legal provisions. It also proposed to establish "public interest" as a defense reason.
The Hong Kong Journalists Association is highly ridiculous. Following the revelation that their supposed "membership survey" had an extremely small sample size, they submitted another "proposal", both aimed at attacking and smearing the introduction of Article 23. Looking at the "proposal" of the Journalists Association, it opposes national security and press freedom, trying to mislead public opinion. As for bringing up the phrase "public interest", it is even more insidious. In fact, other representative news associations in Hong Kong have stated that the introduction of the law will not affect press freedom, and the legal community has also expressed support for Article 23. Everyone can think about this, what kind of public interest is there in the world that is used to harm national security? In short, anything that harms national security will not be, and is not consistent with, public interest. We must condemn the Journalists Association for hijacking the media and attempting to deliberately create panic through sensational reports!

香港記協十分可笑，繼之前的所謂「會員調查」被揭發基數奇少後，又遞交「意見書」，目的都是為了攻擊和抹黑二十三條立法。縱觀記協的「意見書」，竟然將國家安全與新聞自由對立起來，企圖誤導公眾。至於搬出「公眾利益」字眼更是別有用心。其實香港其他更有代表性的新聞協會已表示立法不會影響新聞自由，法律界也表示支持23條立法。大家試想想，世界上有公眾利益是被用作傷害國家安全的嗎？簡單而言，所有損害國安的事都不會是、也不符合公眾利益。我們必須譴責記協騎劫新聞界，企圖以譁眾取寵的報告刻意製造恐慌！
